Battery storage integration into a woodchip fired micro CHP (combined heat and power) ORC unit with thermal output of 50 kW

Project ID: TK01020075
Funding provider: Technology Agency of the Czech Republic
Investigator at UCEEB: Ing. Zbyněk Zelený
Project duration: 1. 7. 2018 – 30. 6. 2020
Partners: EnergyCloud, s.r.o.

Goal of this project is development of an integrated battery storage with woodchip fired cogeneration ORC unit. Base of the technology will be a cogeneration ORC unit with nominal thermal output of 50 kW (currently operation in UCEEB laboratory), to which will be connected a specially modified battery storage system EnergyCloud with photovoltaic panel. First step will be a hardware combination of both technologies. As a part of that will be created industrial template for a special DC circuit breaker. Main task will be however to create an optimal I&C measures so that whole system would operate safely, reliably and effectively. This project follows up on successful joint “innovation voucher” in which there was created a basic concept of this unique technological system.

The project is subsidised by TAČR, programme Théta.
